1. I added a good example of a WebQuest to the home page where it talked about tasks.
2. I added an idea to the audience section of the press conference section on the navigation bar on the left side.
3. I added the real life section to the press conference section on the navigation bar on the left side.

Chapter 10
I loved the part in chapter ten when one of the students were talking about a program where there is a list of things the student can choose from to do over vacation or the week after finals. The students can choose something like camping and receive credit for it. It is a way for students who are missing credits to make them up. I really thought this was a great idea and a good way to get students interested in school outside of the classroom.
I just thought that this idea was really good and this particular student seems like they think it is a great idea as well. It doesn't harm students to do it, and it helps the students who do need credits. I had never heard of a program like this. The idea of getting PE credits for camping is great because I remember so many times in high school where I did things outside of school that should have counted as credits for school. This keeps students learning new things while they are at home and it might stimulate some motivation to learn more when they come back to school. I feel like it is also a good way for students to find something they are interested in and connect learning to their own lives. This can help students realize that there is more to school than books and papers.

Chapter 9
In chapter nine I chose to respond to the part when one of the students talked about how it offends the students when you just do your job day in and day out. When the teacher comes to school because it is their job, and then they leave at the end of the day. I was surprised that the student said that this offended them and that it is more about teachers doing their job really well and making a bond with the students in that way. It is not about just bonding with the students.
This surprised me because I did not think the students would be offended by that even though it does make sense. I guess that I thought that as sad as it is, most teachers are like that. I would think they would be surprised if they had a teacher that they noticed cared more than just coming to school everyday because they get paid. I also thought it was weird that as future teachers we are trying so hard to connect with the students while this student is saying that the relationship will only happen if you do your job right. They suggested not simply trying to make connections.

Chapter 8
In chapter eight i chose to look at the part when one student said he wanted to be an auto mechanic someday and that teachers can help him learn technology to find job opportunities. They can also teach him English so he can learn how to talk to people and tell them what is wrong with their car. I just thought this was a really awesome statement.
I liked this part because our job as teachers is to help the students learn because it will benefit them in the future. This is a student actually saying that is why school is important to his life and that a teacher has the ability to teach them those skills. As future teachers we are trying to learn how to relate the material to students lives but it is right there is front of us. This student is telling us that even a student who is interested in a job like an auto mechanic can benefit from school. I realized that it is not that hard to relate school to real life. It is actually a lot simpler than I thought.

Chapter 7
I chose to look at the part when a student talked about how in his class they were talking about the Holocaust and some kids were laughing about it. The teacher turned around and asked them what gave them the right to laugh and they felt really bad and apologized. I was really surprised at the reaction of the students and I thought the way the teacher reacted was really good.
I was surprised by the students reactions because it is not everyday you see students apologizing like that for laughing. It is obvious that they felt really bad about it. I thought the teachers reaction was really good because it really taught the students a lesson and put them in their place. It was something they will not forget. It also made the whole class think about their limitations and how serious the Holocaust was.

Chapter 6
In chapter six the part that surprised me was when a student talked about how students used to get to choose what they read and make a poster or write and essay about it. Then they changed it so they gave them a list of things they could read instead of making them choose. When they did this all of the students stopped trying and did not do the assignment anymore.
This surprised me and made to mad at the same time. To think that the people running the program would take away that right to choose really surprises me. It also makes me mad because students need choices and these type of things are the exact things that make the students stop trying. Students are much less motivated when you give them a list of books they can read instead of letting them choose one that they are interested in. I have learned a lot from simply reading books that I like. I did not learn a lot from the books that I was forced to read. Students feel violated when you take their choices away.

Chapter 5
The part in chapter five that stuck out in my mind is when the students talked about wanting to choose their own groups or at least know the students well enough to assign groups that they will work well in. This part really made me think about assigning groups to students. It gave me a new outlook on how to assign groups or if I should assign groups.
This part really made me think because we have been learning about how to assign groups mostly in random ways. This makes me think that you should not choose groups all of the time. It also makes me think that they should not be chosen in a random way because the students in this chapter are saying that they dislike working in groups because of who they have to work with. However, we are being taught differently. We think that teachers should choose groups because if the students work with their friends they will not do any work.
